Johnson Children’s Services (JCS) provides therapeutic foster care throughout East and Central Region.
The Foster Care Program will provide residential care for 4 clients from for long-term care or return home with community and staff support. These beds will be funded on a fee for service or contact basis.
- Our program is designed to accommodate client ages 18 years of age and under
- Children from all cultural, religious and economic groups
- Exposed to family violence, neglect or abuse
- Exposed to detrimental alcohol or drug use by parents or caregivers
- Children who have lacked effective and safe parenting
- Minor to moderate difficulties with conceptual, social, and practical adaptive skills
- Minor to moderate impairment in communication, cognition, or expressions of affect
- Lack of motivation or the inability to complete self-care activities or participate in social activities
- Siblings who need to stay together
The program will be structured. Client will participate in a program that deals with personal and interpersonal performance and the positive re-enforcement of appropriate behaviors through recognition and reward. Consequence will only be secondary means needed to ensure compliance with safety and security requirements.
A wrap around service will work in conjunction with residential care but will include a more individualized treatment through a Community base agency or Psychological Support Services if deemed necessary.

The philosophy of the Johnson children Services Inc. is one of “social nourishment” and looks at the young person’s social, psychological and physical well-being within a culturally sensitive environment.
The Foster Care programs are community based wherever possible; they are designed to address the specific needs of the young people living within one of the many homes. The program uses relationship and therapeutic supports as part of the nurturing process. The programs build on a balanced perspective that includes work, education, recreation and therapy.
